Its a cup cake?

Last week I took these to the young women that I work with and told them that the gender of my growing baby has to do with the color of the cup cake.

Well as you can tell we are having a BOY!!!

here are some of the ultra sound pictures.

It was a great experience! My mom and Atty came with me and Clay was on the phone. I told Clay all the things I was seeing on the screen. Atty thought it was so cool to see mommies baby on the TV. I am so excited to have a boy and I am excited to see Athena be a big sister!

Church History Museum

At the LDS Church History Museum there is an exhibit called "A Book of Mormon Fiesta: A Latin–American Celebration" Its an interactive exhibit for children. We took Athena and she loved it!!

They had an area where you could play learning to write Book of Mormon symbols and play games on computers.

A kitchen where you could feed the missionaries

And a garden where you could practice planting and harvesting.

One of my favorite parts was were you could dress up and learn a traditional latin dance.

You could also knock on doors and watch videos about people from Latin America.

Atty also got to drive a taco truck! It was a really fun interactive exhibit. She loved it so much we almost couldn't get her to leave.

Christmas!

We hope everyone had a great Christmas Season! We had a great season this year! It was very busy, we waited till last minute to do some things. I really wanted to have Athena see Santa this year and so last minute we went to the mall and she got to see Santa.

She was very nervous while the very patient Santa talked to her. As we were getting up to leave Athena looked over at her aunts and uncles who were taking pictures and got so excited they were there. She looked at them and pointed to Santa and mouthed to them "its Santa" Its was cute!

As it got closer to Christmas we went to some family parties. On the 23 we went to a get together at Clay's Aunts house. She had a little party every year and we had soup and talked with family we don't get to see as often as we would like. The kids also had a ton of fun making ginger bread houses.

On the 24 we did some last minute shopping and then in the evening we went to Clay's Grandma's Christmas Dinner. We have delicious dinner and then a program. The program includes each family present sharing something about Christmas.

There are songs and stories shared. There are some funny moments and some serious ones.

The grandkids also act out the nativity, while an uncle reads Luke 2.

We tried to get Athena to participate but she was not in the mood this year to dress up.

When we got back from Clay's Grandmas we did some of my families traditions. We went and gave our 12th day of Christmas to the family we had been delivering the 12 days of Christmas to. Then when we got back someone special came to visit us!

Each year in Sweden Jultomten (the christmas elf) comes to visit Children. This year he visited and gave Athena some Christmas Pajamas. She was unsure about this man and at one point she almost thought it might be grandpa.

After Jultomten left we read Luke 2 and had our traditional treats and then we all went to bed so Santa could come.

This is how Athena helped me wrap a gift for my mom! She added all the stickers and she even colored on it for Grandma.

We wake up really early on Christmas as tradition and so bright and early we went to see want Santa brought. Athena was so excited she didn't want to look at any other gifts.

She wanted to play and try everything as she opened it.

I got a new lens for my camera that I was super excited about and now I can take pictures in low light! Athena and I got so much for Christmas. We were blessed and we are very grateful to all our family and friends who love us so much.

Athena got some new buzz lightyear pajamas from her uncle and would not take them off all day on Christmas and the next day I had a fight with her to take them off so I could wash them.

It is so fun to see her play with her new toys!

We are so grateful for all our blessing at this time in our lives. We were able to skype with Clay on Christmas morning so that he could see Athena open her presents. We were also able to send him some Christmas while he is so far away!

Athena Two Years Old

I love this little girl! Everyday she does something to make me smile, laugh out loud, cry, and scream.

She is now 23 lbs and about 34 inches long. Which make her in the 50% in hight and 10% in weight! That is an improvement from 6 months ago.

Things she loves at age 2:

Toy Story, Cars, Mickey, shoes (but not socks), books, jumping, running, getting and giving hugs, monkeys, cows, juice, cereal, to play, coloring, family, babies, eating out, playing house with her babies, and being outside.

The cutest thing she does at age two is she pretends to die, by sticking her tongue out and falling over. Once she is dead someone is required to touch her ear to wake her up. She also asks you to die and then wakes you up the same way. She has also learned that licking her finger first to give you a wet willy is super funny!

Every day she is learning new words some of my favorites are:

When I was trying to take these pictures she did not want her picture taken and 60% of the pictures I took were of her walking away from me.

She learns so fast she can see you do something once and she will repeat what you do and remember it.

She is so amazing and I am so grateful to be a mom to this beautiful little girl. I know that she will be such a great big sister!

Called to Serve

My little Brother Levi received his mission call a few months ago. He was called to serve in the Georgia Atlanta North Mission. He gave a talk in church on sunday and was set apart on tuesday and then wednesday he entered the MTC.

Getting his name tag! Actually there is a new policy at the MTC, and Mom's don't get to put the name tag on the missionary. But we had my other brothers name tag from his mission so we took a picture of Mom putting it on.

So the new policy at the MTC is that you pull up to the curb and you have the amount of time it takes for the host missionary to take the luggage out of the car to say goodbye to your family. In the photo Levi and the host Elder are getting the luggage.

Thanksgiving in Wyoming

This year for Thanksgiving Athena and I got to spend the Holiday with Clay's family in Wyoming. We drove up to Thermopiles Wyoming on wednesday the 23, Athena's Birthday and when we got there aunt Kia and Nat had a Birthday party all planned.

The had a super cute cake all decorated and ready for her.

Aunt Lindsay and her kids Mason, Belle and Baelyn gave Athena a Woody and Bullseye doll. She was so excited, she didn't even want to open any other gifts.

But she did open her gift from Grandma too. Athena has now spent two birthdays on the road, and today was also the second time Athena and Clay celebrated her birthday over skype. She seems to enjoy having three different birthday parties.

On Thanksgiving day we went swimming in the hot springs mineral water in the morning and then in the afternoon Grandma Barrus had a super fun craft fro the kids to make.

They are turkeys made from apples and marsh mellows and raisins. Grandpa Barrus used to make these with Clay and other kids. Athena loved making this it was a perfect craft for her.

We took our turkeys down to the restaurant in the hotel we were staying at and had our Thanksgiving dinner.

We had salad, turkey, mash potatoes, stuffing, veggies and pie! It was Delicious!

While we were finishing dinner the girls decided to play ring around the rosy.

It was not a traditional Thanksgiving but we did have fun. Athena loved spending time with her cousins and aunts.

On friday we went on a little walk and to play at the park. It was a windy Wyoming day.

We had an great time with the Barrus' and we are excited to see them again in just a few weeks!

Athena is Turning 2

Athena's Birthday is not until the 23 of November but we will be in Wyoming with Clay family for Thanksgiving on Athena's Birthday so I decided to have a little party on saturday with the Moulton/Knight bunch. We are super excited to continue Birthday Celebrations with the Barrus' on her actual birthday.

Athena LOVES Cars and Toy Story, we found cake pans of Buzz Lightyear and Lightning McQueen and Athena finally decided on Cars. I did the frosting on the cake don't look to close this was only my second cake ever.

We had a pizza party! Athena doesn't have any Moulton cousins yet but my cousins have kids Athena's age so they all came to play and eat pizza, cake and Ice cream!

Grandpa had a winter scout camp the night before so he was tired!

She was a little nervous about the candles...

but she did try to blow them out.

She got excited about gifts and understood how to open them this year!

She also got play dough, bath colors, 2 dresses,

an outfit, a coloring book, a coat, and a kitchen.

Athena was so cute at the trunk-or-treat. She walked around in her riding hood and with her basket and said please and thank you to everyone. We also did some trick-or-treating, and went over to the mall to get more treats!!

Witchfest at Gardner Village

Every year Gardner Village does a Witchfest. This means that they set up witches all over and you can try and find them all. We decided to go and check it out. Athena dressed up in her witchiest outfit and we went looking for witches.

This one was set up so you could sit next to her but Athena did not think it was so great.

We tried to get her to warm up to it but she was having non of that.

She really wanted to go into this store, I thought it was a cute picture.

This witch had a mouse and a cat under her skirt and Athena couldn't get enough of it. She didn't want to leave.

We had a ton of fun searching for witches, it was a great fall activity.

Carving Pumpkins

The other day all of my siblings were together and so we decided to carve some pumpkins together. We have not done this is years! When we did carve pumpkins we just did jack-o-lanterns with eyes and a mouth. This time we decided to go all out and get the book of ideas with the carving tools. We started a little late but some of us were up past midnight carving. We had fun talking and fighting like old times.

This picture is missing one pumpkin, but I think they turned out awesome!

Mill Creek Canyon

My sister and Brother-in-law were in town this last week and so we decided to go up the canyon and roast some hotdogs.

Athena fell asleep on the way there so we rolled down the windows and let her sleep. She only slept for about 10 minutes then she was ready to play.

She loved throwing rocks in the creek, we each took a turn playing in the water with her.

She did not like the mud on her hands we had to rinse her hands in the water almost every time she threw a rock in.

Hair Cut #2

A while ago I gave Athena a hair cut. She did ok with me cutting it but there were still some tears. My mom was cutting some peoples hair and Athena got curious, and wanted her hair cut. I was sure that she cry and want to stop once she got in the seat, but she was so good she just sat there. We only cut about an inch off the back.

Our First Week in Utah

We have been go go go from the moment we got here. We got to Utah on the 30th and we got to see family for a bit but that night Clay and I both had mission reunions. We went to mine first, my reunion was for my second president and I was only there one transfer with him so I didn't know many missionaries there.

President and Sister Davis. I was only there for the beginning of their mission but it was really great to get to know them and I think I was his first exit interview.

We also went to Clay's Reunion but it was 2 presidents combined and there were not many missionaries from his time in Sweden. But we did get to eat some yummy Swedish food.

While in Utah we also got to go to a session of Conference, we went down to Mona and hung out with Aunt Lindsay, Uncle Jeff and Aunt KaiLee. Athena had a good time with her Cousins. We had Paella with family and friends in West Jordan. (My Parents make Paella at conference time and we have friends over) We did a lot of shopping to get Clay ready for his deployment.

On Thursday we took Clay to the Air port and said our good byes. We wont see him again for 6 months. We will miss him but we have email and Skype to communicate!!

Leaving Cheney.... we'll be back in 6 months

On October 12 Clay will be deployed to Qatar for 6 months. We decided as a family that while he is gone we would go spend so time with family in Utah. Our amazing friends in Cheney helped as pack up all our stuff and put it into storage. Thanks so much for all your help I wish I would have gotten pictures of all the amazing people helping us, we have some great friends in Cheney that we will miss while we are gone.

Once we were all packed up we took a road trip to Utah through Wyoming to see Clay's Mom, Sister and other family. We decided to drive through the night so that Athena could sleep, but every time we tried to take a break she woke up and we would just have to get on the road again. So really non of us got any sleep.

She fell asleep about 2 minutes after she sat down. I think I was sleeping not long after.

We hung out with Grandma and Aunt Natalie for a few days. It was so fun to go to gma's house and see our family.

Athena's first Dilly Bar she loved it and wanted to share with all of us.

We also got to see other family in Wyoming, we went to Clays Aunt and Uncles house and Athena found this kitchen and played with it the whole time we were there.

We are sad to leave our friends in Cheney but excited to spend 6 months around family!

Wood Badge #2

About a month ago Clay received his Wood Badge, we posted about it here. At our Pack Meeting this month I got my Wood Badge. I went to Wood Badge in June and had a great time. I learned a ton and it helped motivate me to be a better Den Leader.

Most of my ticket items (goals) involved our den or pack. I made a folder with all the information needed to be a den leader in our pack. I worked with the bears to earn their Leave No Trace Awareness Award. I started a parent news letter. I earned my Spanish Interpreter patch and taught the scouts all about "Lobatos" the spanish equivalent to Cub Scouts. I also did all the requirements for boy scouts up to 1st Class Scout.

I learned a lot about being a effective leader, and how other packs and troops run. I always wanted to be an Eagle Scout, (I think that makes me a nerd) I know that Wood Badge is not like earning your eagle, but I think its still brag worthy.

Camping at Bonnie Lake

Over the weekend Clay was planning on going to a Scout Leadership Camp-out and I was going to stay home and have a quiet weekend. Then some friends called us and invited us to go camping with them. Athena decided to go and have fun with out Clay. We went to Bonnie Lake there is an island in the middle of the lake where people camp. The only thing is that the only way to get to the lake is to go down the river. We had two canoes and a fishing boat to take us and all our gear to the island.

Our boats were we left to go down the river to the lake.

We went with Emma, Athena's friend from nursery, and her parents and two other families.

We used the fishing boat to pull the canoes to the island.

We had lots of fun, we had yummy food, played and hiked all over the island, canoed around the lake, and hung out in the great outdoors.

We are so glad our friends invited us to go with them this last weekend we had so much fun!

Our Trip to Seattle with Aunt Justine!

Over Labor Day my Sister Justine came to visit us and we decided to go to Seattle and hang out. We have been to Seattle twice before this time and so we decided to do some touristy things. We got City Passes and got two trips up the Space Needle, visit to the museum of music and science fiction, a visit to the Pacific Science Museum, a cruise tour of the City, a visit to the Seattle Aquarium and a visit to the Zoo.

Wood Badge

September 2010 Clay spent two weekends doing something called Wood Badge. Wood Badge is a scout leadership training where you learn leadership techniques and learn how to make S.M.A.R.T. goals. At the end of the two weekends you make 5 goals or what is called ticket items. Then you have 18 months to complete these ticket items.

Clay has finished is Wood Badge, over the last year he has learned to cook in a dutch oven, created an arrow of light ceremony, became a pioneering merit badge counselor, made a binder to help other webelos leaders and helped lead join activities with the webelos and boy scouts.

Here he is with his Wood Badge Scout Master and his Wood Badge Troop Guide. They both helped him through the Wood Badge experience and to make his goals.

This is his Scout Master with a Kudu Horn, this same type of horn was used by Baden-Powell to begin a session of Wood Badge.

When you receive your Wood badge you are welcomed into Gilwell Troop 1. You receive a neckerchief with the Maclaren Tarton, a Woggle with two layers, and Wood Badge Beads. Which are beads that look like the first beads used by Baden-Powell.

I think it is awesome that Clay was able to receive his Wood Badge, its a lot of work! I hope to be receiving mine this month!!

Summer Swimming

It has been super hot in the last few weeks so we have been spending a lot of time at our pool.

It takes her a little while but she eventually gets in the water to swim with us.

The other day Athena saw a friends blog post about a mommy daughter date where they got a mani/pedi. So she brought me some polish and we painted her nails. This is big for one because she hates when I cut her nails and most of the time she wont even let me touch them.

Then she figured out how to open the polish and decided that dad needed his nails polished too. I am just glad we caught her before she got it everywhere!!

Last weekend we went to Siemers at Greenbluff. We got to pick our own strawberries and we had so much fun.

Athena was eating about as many as she was picking!

It was really beautiful out there and we were able to have some fresh strawberries to eat and to make some freezer jam!!

Knight Family Reunion

My Grandpa Knight was born July 24, 1911. To celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday, his family got together for a Family Reunion.

We spent the weekend in Utah around Starvation Reservoir, we started the reunion off with a "Family

Bi-athlon"

We started with a mile and 1/2 run...

and then we swam I am not sure how far but I was fun. We young and old participating so we each had a partner to help us along the way.

We did have an some scraped knees and other injuries but we all still had fun!

We had a fun time hanging out and eating!!

We borrowed a boat and hung out at the reservoir

We had yummy stew for dinner one night and then we shared memories of Grandpa Knight and looked at pictures of Grandpa.

The next morning we had biscuits and gravy for Grandpa he loved some good B and G.

The kids earned tickets by helping out and were able to redeem them at the ticket store!

Justine got some awesome minute to win it games together!

How many bubbles can you blow in a minute?

Vaseline on your nose and move cotton balls from one bowl to the next!

Toss ping pong balls into bread with peanut butter on it!

Roll marbles and get them to stop on double stick tape!

Straws into a potato and then put m&m's on them.

We had so much fun playing and being together as a family. I was good to see family and see Grandma with all her grand kids and great grand kids!!

Grandma Bears 80th Birthday/ Barrus Reunion

Over The 4th Of July we had a big Barrus Reunion to celebrate Grandma Bears 80th Birthday.

Most of the Family was able to attend.

There was 87+ people there and we had so much fun!!

There were tons of organized activities, Grandma Bear asked us to play Horse Shoe in memory of Uncle John who passed away last year.

We had a big horse shoe tournament.

We also did a service project to help clean up around the cabin we were staying in.

We weeded and cleaned around the outside of the cabin and put in a horse shoe pit for the people who let us stay in their cabin.

Then we went and visited the fish hatchery with all the grandkids and great grandkids.

They had a little presentation about what they do at the hatchery.

Then we got to look at the fish in each of the stages of life.

We tried to catch some with our hands

Then we got to feed the fish and that was the kids favorite part.

We also had crafts and fun things for kids and parents to do.

We took some good naps in the afternoons...

We had a baby shower for the two expectant moms...

One more great grandbaby

and one more grand baby for Grandma Bear.

Then we played Baseball for grandma in memory of Uncle Chip who passed away this last year also.

Grandma Bear even got in on the game.

She was up to bat and her sister ran for her.

I didn't get any pictures but we also had a Rook Tournament in memory of Clay's Dad Frank who passed away this last November.

Then we had a fun Fourth of July with the whole family.

And celebrated Grandma's Birthday

We had our own little fireworks show.

We had so much fun laughing and playing together and Celebrating one amazing Grandma and Mother!!

Moab Utah

At the end of June we took a trip down to Utah, part one of our trip was a road trip down to Moab and Arches with the Moultons.

We hiked around Arches trying to see it all for about three days.

Woodbadge

Does this make me a nerd?

last weekend and this in the coming weeks I will be working towards receiving my Woodbadge in scouting. It is a leadership training corse for scout leaders. We spend two weekends being scouts and learn by watching how to be a better leader for the scouts we are with. We also set goals for ourselves and once we have achieved them we will be beaded. Clay participated in this last fall and is almost done with his goals and will soon receive his beads. I look like a crazy boy scout but I am having so much fun! Our Awesome sister/ sister-in-law Kai has been watching Athena for us!

Memorial Day Road Trip!

We wanted to do something fun for the long weekend and after trying to make plains we decided to just go on a road trip and figure it out along the way.

This is where we stayed the second night. It was really pretty but we were super close the the Airport.

While in Seattle we met up with my MTC Companera Hermana Magelson! (aka Karissa) It was so fun to have lunch with her and hang out at the Market. She is going back to Peru for an internship in about a week!

We got 5 dollar flowers, and then headed home!

It was Clay's Birthday on the 25th.

He got a yummy Breakfast and gifts before work. He got a racquet and safety glasses for playing Racquet Ball, and a Baseball Bat.

Athena and I took him to Panda for Lunch.

Then we had friends over for a BBQ. We had burgers and hotdogs, yummy grilled veggies and ICE CREAM CAKE. (A Clayton Birthday tradition).

18 Months Old

Our little Athena is 18 months old today! To celebrate we took some pictures!

She is now 21 lbs and 29.5 inches tall! Which is in the 5% for both, but she is in the 50% hight to weight ratio.

She is having so much fun climbing and running outside and inside! She knows how to say hi, bye, up, all done, please, wee, ball, baby, no, mine, more, and eyes. If we ask her she knows where her eyes, nose, mouth, head and belly button are.

She can fold her arms for prayer if we prompt her, it only lasts for about 20 seconds.

She loves to sing to the music in the car and house, I love to sing to the radio so she does the same.

She loves her baby doll and tries to feed her, hold her, put her in the stroller and even try to get her to talk on the phone.

She loves to say Hi to everyone. In church she will just stand on the bench and wave to everyone.

She loves to play at the park the swings are her favorite, but she is beginning to enjoy the slide also!

She loves to color, and look at books. She is still a little impatient so when we try to read them to her, she pays attention for about a minute.

If Clay and I kiss she has to get a kiss too.

Its been so fun to see her grow and to play with her as she is learning so fast. I feel like she is learning to much everyday. She is like a sponge she notices everything we do and tries to do them. We love our little Atty.

Say Please

We never really made the decision to use baby signs with Athena, its not that we are against them we are just not consistent. Well Athena started yelling at us when ever she wanted something so we decided to try it out starting with please. It took a lot of us saying say please and doing the sign. I also would take her hand and show her so she understood. As soon and she understood that if she said please she would get what she wanted. She says please and she does the sign.

First Hair Cut

Athena's hair was starting to look a little business in the front party in the back, mullet. So we decided to give the back a little trim.

At first I think she just thought we were doing her hair like usual.

Fun Weekend with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncles

Some of my family came to visit, the main reason they came was to see Athena I am sure but they also came to Clay's Promotion Ceremony. Next month Clay will be a Sr. Airman. It was an exciting ceremony.

We put a sticker of his new stripe on his shoulder and and then we punched him to make sure it stayed there, I am sure his commander punched harder than I did.

The rest of the weekend was full of Athena being spoiled

16 months and so big!!

Athena is 16 months today!!

She is so big I can't believe her, everyday is an adventure for sure!

This is her new face sometimes she will turn around and make this face until we do it back. She is talking and walking and so much fun. We are so excited for summer so we can go play outside at the park.

She is so happy (most of the time):) She doesn't love shopping, mostly because we don't let her run around the store like she wants to.

She started doing this stacking the books on the heater and then setting next to them. I don't know why but she loves doing it, but she started taring the heater off so we got her a chair...

and I think she like it!

Anniversary

On the 18th we celebrated our third anniversary!! It was a great day! Clay got the day off free he didn't have to take leave or anything (they gave him a few days for getting Airman of the Quarter). We relaxed most of the day then in the evening we got a babysitter and went out. We had delicious dinner and then Clay treated me to a new hair cut and style. He got a super awesome packet knife he has been wanting! It was a good day and fun to spend the evening just the two of us!

Its been way to long...

Its been a while and quite a few things have been going on at our house. About two weeks ago Athena lost her appetite and she started waking up during the night. Well we found out that she was getting three new molars. Its was a rough few days of Athena being so tired but not wanting to sleep, and her being so hungry but in so much pain she couldn't eat. By the end of the week she also had sores in her mouth. Our little girl now has three new teeth and is eating better than she ever has before.

She loves Bananas Yum!!

That same week Athena got a hugh package from Gram Moulton...

She is back to being our cute toddler!

When Athena was first born we had this mini travel size pack and play crib, she is now to big for her pack and play. So yesterday we went looking for a crib that turns into a toddler bed or something like that. Looking at prices we decided on just a toddler bed. We are not sure if she is old enough yet but she did really good last night. So we will see how it goes...

14 Months

Our little Athena is growing up she is now 14 months and cute as ever.

At 14 months she weighs 19 lbs and is 28 inches long which actually is quite small, she is in the 5th percentile in weight and below the 5th in length. Her pediatrician was worried about it until I explained that I am just a little taller than my husband and his family. :) She is just a petite little girl.

At 14 months Athena loves so many things. She loves looking in the mirror and getting her hair done. She loves it when I brush her teeth, she giggles every time. She now will play in her room and not have to be in the same room as me all the time. She loves going to play group with her friends. When we say where is Athena she covers her eyes and the says ba or boo. She loves when her daddy comes home from work. She says mama, dad, hi, and whats that. She can blow kisses and waves bye bye.

She is such a girl she has a super cute purse with a bracelet and lipstick which are some of her favorite toys. She loves her dollies and teddy bears.

We love our little Atty and love how much she is growing and learning everyday.

Christmas

I love Christmas traditions, I always have and so Clay and I have come up with our own traditions that combine things that each of our families did while we were growing up and things that are done in the countries where we served our missions. Our first tradition is that on Christmas Eve and man dressed like this:

Comes through the front door and he is called Jultomte (Christmas Elf or Gnome) He brings in his blue bag one gift and stockings filled with goodies for each person.

He brings Christmas Pajamas

This tradition is a combinations of Swedish, Peruvian and Barrus Traditions. Jultomte is Santa in Sweden and he brings gifts of Christmas Eve. In Peru they open all of their gifts on Christmas Eve and the Barrus Family gets Christmas Pajamas on Christmas Eve.

In Peru their big decoration is a huge Nativity ours is not as big as the ones in Peru but they don't put the baby Jesus in until Christmas Eve. (ours is on the counter above our heads).

Clays Swedish Candy!

The Moultons do things a bit different on Christmas Eve we read the nativity and eat cookies and eggnog. We were not allowed to open any gifts early so we would talk my parents in to getting up as early as possible on Christmas Morning. We get one Santa gift that is not wrapped (Athena's was the Cabbage Patch doll behind me). We also draw names and give gifts among siblings. The best Moulton tradition is making a big mess and leaving it till later in the day because we go back to bed!

That was our little christmas together in Washington on the actual Eve of Christmas we flew to Utah to be with family. We were able to spend Christmas Eve with the extended Barrus Bunch. Every year the get together and all the great grandkids act out the Nativity.

The next morning we woke early and had a fun Christmas Morning with the Moulton Clan. We got way to many gifts from Grandma Moulton. We didn't get any photos camera battery was dead ): but it was a great Christmas morning!

The rest of Christmas Holiday was spent with family we sent a few days with the Barrus' and then a few Days with the Moulton's. We had a really fun Christmas and we are great full for all the time that we were able to spend with Family!

Its been a fun December and I love pictures so here are some photos of what we have been doing in December!

I got the idea from a friend and my mom to put things Athena can play with in the bottom drawer but her new favorite thing is to get in the drawer and play with the stuff. The only thing is that she can't get back out!

Grandma Moulton has a tradition of getting us a ornament each year as an early gift. We got a awesome nativity scene. Athena got a package from Grandma with her ornament in it, it was super cute.

She also got a cute nativity made out of felt to play with.

This December Athena made her first visit to Chuck e Cheese. We went to a birthday party of one of Clay's co workers daughter.

She loved carrying the tub of tokens around and it was super cute.

Athena got to see santa for the first time too, she also surprised me by not crying while on Santa's lap.

Grandpa Barrus and a visit to Utah

On November 19th Grandpa Barrus, Clay's Father passed away, he was an amazing Dad and Grandpa!

This was his Obituary from the Anchorage News Paper:

Frank was born Oct. 31, 1957, in Cody, Wyo. He earned Eagle Scout Honors and graduated from Cody High School in 1976. He served in the Tahiti, Papeete Mission, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Frank received his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young

University and completed his MBA at Oregon State University.

He met Barbara Emmett and married her in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple in 1980. He was a dedicated husband and father of six. He loved sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge of life with his children and grandchildren, which included hunting, fishing, baseball, football, business and service. His family wrote: "Dad fell in love with Alaska after just one fishing trip and moved with his family to Nome, December 2001. He settled in Anchorage a few years later. In 2008 his 'Alaskan Adventure' took him to Dillingham but was cut short through this loss. Dad was always the voice we heard over the crowd, whether at sporting events or just out with our friends. He was always the 'push' that made us strive to be better. We will miss our dad, husban

d, friend, coach, teacher, leader and our biggest fan. We were all blessed and became better individuals by having known him and have been given another exceptional example to live our lives by." Frank was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Tunney" and brothers, John and Chip. He is survived by his

loving wife of 30 years, Barbara, of Anchorage; his children, Lindsay (Jeff) Ekins of Mona, Utah; Tiffany (Ryan) Metcalf of Wasilla; Clayton (Makenna) Barrus of Cheney, Wash.; Chase of Payson Utah; and Natalie and KaiLee of Anchorage, and his grandchildren, Alyssa, Carson, Mason, Maylee, Isabelle, Athena, Baelyn, and Tyson.

On the 20th of November Clay went up to Alaska to help out with what he could for his Mom and Sisters that lived up there with Frank. Clay spent Thanksgiving there and stayed until Wednesday the first of December. While in AK they had a viewing and memorial service and then transported Frank to Utah for a second funeral and burial. At each service Clay and his siblings spoke of memories they treasure of their Father. It was a beautiful tribute to a loving father and Grandfather.

While Clay was is AK Athena and I along with my sister drove down to Utah to meet Clay there. We left on Monday hoping to be in Utah by Tuesday for Athena's First Birthday, but weather did not co-operate and we Celebrated Athena's birthday Via Skype with Clay and his family and then later with my Mom and Brothers. Athena had a cupcake and so did Clay and we sang Happy Birthday. It will always be a good story to tell about her first birthday. We did eventually have a Princess Party for her an Saturday with the Moulton bunch and then later the next friday with the Barrus Bunch.

Athena's first Halloween was a fun one. We went to Eastern Washington University on friday where we went trick-or-treating to each department. Then we went to a carnival at the campus.

Athena got a balloon, popcorn and tons of candy!

Then on Saturday night we went to our ward trunk-or-treat. We handed out candy and got some of our own. :)

Athena was super excited about all her candy! She worked hard to get one open and got chocolate everywhere!

Arrow of Light

Clay is one of the Weblos Leaders in our ward and he recently went to Wood Badge, a leadership training retreat sort of thing. Now to receive his Wood Badge award he is completing goals that he set for himself. One of the goals he set was to get the boys excited about their Arrow of Light. He worked hard to help the boys achieve their Arrow of Light and put together a ceremony for them to receive it.

The Ceremony turned out really cool, he talked about how the boys start out in a den and then move though scouts by first earning their bobcat then moving through scouts to become a Weblos and as a Weblo then earn their Arrow of Light. This award starts them on the course as a Scout. He used two ropes to represent Cub Scouts and Boys Scouts and had the boys tie the ropes together with a square knot. He had the boys Cub Scout Leaders come up and represent the Cub Scout side and Boys Scout Leaders to Welcome them into Scouts. He also made a Ceremonial Arrow for each of the boys and presented it to them.

It turned out to be a great Ceremony and I think it got the other boys excited about being a Weblos and earning their Arrow of light.

Fun Times and 10 Months Old!!!

First of all just a fun picture of Atty! She will sit on the bathroom counter and brush her teeth and let me do this to her hair. I love it I think she looks so cute!!

For the past few months Clay and I have been hosting Family Home Evening for other young families in our ward. It has been super fun so far and it gets us to have Family Home Evening every week. This last monday we decided to do a big activity. We went clay pigeon shooting. It was mostly the Dads shooting and the Moms watching and doing a little shooting. It was fun to be with friends from our ward and I also got to cook cobbler in the dutch over which I love to do.

September 23 was Athena's 10 month birthday! I can't believe that she is 10 months already!

We started to skype with family and now every time the computer is open she says hi to it. She can also say dad and mom. She can also play patty cake its so cute she gets super excited and claps her hands. We had to baby proof everything and some how she still gets into everything. I love being home with her and being a mom to the cutest girl ever!!

My Mom and Brother decided to stop at our house on their super exciting road trip. They started in Utah and went up through Yellowstone and stopped at our Place in Spokane and then we went with them to Seattle. We had tons of fun, we went to Pike Market Square which was a way cool Farmers Market and found what might be the only beach in the northwest. We went and saw the temple and had a super fun road trip. Mom and Levi got to hang out for a few more days in Spokane with us and it was so fun to have them here and see Athena play with them. We miss them already and hope they (and more family members) can come and stay again soon!!

Visit from the Metcalfs

We had the first of what hopefully will be many visits from family in our new apartment. Ryan and Tiffany (clays older sister) and kids came to visit us last week. They were on a road trip from Southern Utah back to Alaska. They got here in the late afternoon and we played in the pool the kids all had a bath and then we ate dinner. We watched a movie and played games and had a super fun evening. They slept in their new RV and we had breakfast in the morning and then they went off to Silverwood for the day. It was super fun to have family come and visit, and it will be a while until Atty sees her cousins again. We are so glad they decided to come and visit!!

Eight Months Old

My little cutie is 8 months old today and I can believe it!! She is so much fun, everyday brings new surprises and new things she can do.

At eight months:

- She is doing the military crawl and gets up on her knees sometimes.

- She is pulling herself up on everything.

- sometimes we can get her to giggle but it takes a lot of work.

- She is babbling all day long. she can say dada, baba and she makes a ssss sound.

- She loves her mom and is not in love with strangers and letting other people hold her.

- She loves to eat!! bananas, carrots, peas, green beans, apple sauce, and anything she can get close to her mouth.

- She loves to smack her lips together, its so cute to see!

- She loves to blow raspberries on everything, including in the water.

Its so amazing to be parents and see our little one learning new things everyday!

Our Summer Visit to Utah!!

My Dad and Brother are headed to the Desert, my Dad is going to Afghanistan and my brother is going to United Arab Emerits. They both go in a few weeks so we decided to visit before they left. We had tons of fun hanging out with family. At first it was just going to be Athena and I but Clay surprised us all with getting a few days off and joined us for the trip.

Our New Apartment!!!

Its been a while and my family is bugging me to update this little blog. So here we go, its been a busy week and a half. Last Monday Tuesday and Wednesday Atty and I volunteered at Cub scout day camp. It was super fun we wrote letters to the troops and played capture the flag and relay races. The scouts also got to shoot bb guns and learn to fish. I think it was a super fun Day Camp! On wednesday we were planning on moving also I came home from day camp and Clay had our moving truck all packed up. He packed everything by himself, he was super proud of himself but I felt super bad that he had to do it all by himself. We just moved about a mile away from our old apartment so when i got home a family from our ward helped us move into our new apartment. Thanks so much Brady and Natalie you helped so much. The next few days we unpacked and just hung out at our new place. We are now all moved in so if anyone wants to come over we can play in our pool!!

Fathers Day Celebrations

We had a super fun Fathers Day, Clay had friday off so I surprised him with a camping trip. He came home from work and I had the car all packed up ready to go camping. We only drove about a half hour to our destination and I was not sure how Athena would do on her first camping trip so we went to a "resort." Lets just say we were not backpacking or anything to rugged. Athena did great! We ate good food played in the water and rented a paddle boat and rode around the lake, and just hung out!

On sunday Atty and I made Clay breakfast in bed and he got some new church pants and the final season of Lost.

Yep we used a "bundle me" as a sleeping bag, she looked to cute in it and it kept her soo warm!
